Stand By Me was written and recorded by Ben E. King in 1961 and was a hit around the world. It was also rereleased in 1986 to coincide with the film of the same name and became a number one again. Over the years there have been 400 different recorded versions of song including versions by John Lennon, Otis Redding and Muhammad Ali.
